To honor the UAE’s Golden Jubilee, a new path, the historic Al Bithnah Nature and Heritage Trail, has been opened in the Emirate of Fujairah. The emirate’s 50th nature trail, which commemorates the UAE’s 50th anniversary, is the country’s first community-built tourism trail and a leading example of ‘inclusive development.’
Etihad Rail, Emirates Nature-WWF, Fujairah Municipality, Fujairah Environment Authority, and Fujairah Adventures Center, and Fujairah Tourism and Antiquities Authority collaborated to open the nature path. The nature route, which is located in Wadi Ham, was constructed as part of the Al Bithnah Conservation Project. The trail is noteworthy because it is rich in biodiversity and cultural heritage. The route, which was inaugurated in the presence of dignitaries, is expected to be completed by the first quarter of 2022 and would be open to travelers as an eco-tourism attraction. The group inspected the first stretch of the route and the surrounding areas for the inauguration.
It intends to foster sustainable development within the local community, create unique eco-tourism opportunities, safeguard the environment and biodiversity, and conserve the UAE’s natural heritage through this new project. The project is part of Etihad Rail’s commitment to being a “Good Neighbor” to the areas through which the UAE’s National Rail network runs.
“As a Good Neighbor, Etihad Rail is committed to defending the livelihood of local communities surrounding the Etihad Rail project,” stated Mohamed Al Marzooqi, Executive Director of Rail Relations at Etihad Rail. This will create unique prospects for long-term economic and social development, as well as play a key role in the UAE’s quest for excellence and success over the next fifty years.”
