Artsy Monke is a project that combines BAYC inspiration of an ape and combines it to grant it an artistic element as the final product. This project utilized the capabilities of Google Cloud Neural Networks, based on artificial intelligence (AI) to make art, to be more precise – NFT art. The images were created through Google’s collaborative Notebook service Colab in combination with cloud computing.
The AI transformed all 10,000 Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) NFTs into machine-made works of art. These pieces are a chimera of abstract paintings. When closely viewed, the paintings differ in terms of their landscape and scenery with a distinguishable outline of the original ape-like image of the BAYC NFT.
You might be thinking… as to how exactly does it work? Well, the original BAYC NFTs were given to the AI as a ‘loose canvas’ from which the AI would be able to generate art. In the beginning, the AI was ‘taught’ how to paint in different ways. This was achieved by running multiple instances or situations for the AI to learn from and yield the required results as per the team’s requirements. The resulting Artsy Monke pieces portray a unique micro-world digitally painted into the outline of an ape from the original NFT.
In the 21st century, we find ourselves hearing about instances of brilliant works of art that are developed at the intersection of technology and art.
“We wanted Artsy Monke to be pieces of art that you could hang on your wall, but also, by using Web3 technology, we can let holders access the Artsy Monke games and earn real money. The more Monke NFT you hold, the more games you can play and the more money you can earn,” said Dan Hovey, the blockchain developer behind the project.
