In a rare collaboration that blends luxury watchmaking, automotive heritage, and fine crystal artistry, Jacob & Co. has partnered with Bugatti and Lalique to unveil the Bugatti Calandre table clock. Priced at $240,000 USD and limited to just 99 pieces, the release showcases a bold fusion of sculptural beauty and mechanical precision. It pays homage to the legacy of Bugatti while embracing Jacob & Co.’s spirit of innovation.
Inspired by the iconic Bugatti Type 41 Royale, the Calandre reimagines the vehicle’s horseshoe-shaped grille in hand-cut Lalique crystal. This signature detail connects French Art Deco design with modern craftsmanship. Each partner—Jacob & Co., Bugatti, and Lalique—brings unmatched expertise, pushing the boundaries of luxury design and engineering.
Engineering Meets Sculptural Brilliance
Standing at 264 x 196 mm, the Calandre houses the hand-wound JCAM58 caliber, developed in-house by Jacob & Co. With an eight-day power reserve and vertical flying tourbillon, the clock mirrors the mechanical complexity of Bugatti’s Tourbillon hypercar. This vertical configuration not only enhances technical performance but also creates a visual spectacle.
A 30-mm Jacob-cut red gemstone crowns the clock, adding a dramatic flourish. Beneath it, Lalique’s glasswork features the famous “Dancing Elephants,” originally sculpted by Rembrandt Bugatti and seen on the Royale’s radiator cap. Together, these details create a bridge between classic motifs and cutting-edge innovation.
Presented in Bespoke Packaging
Each Calandre clock comes in a handcrafted leather trunk, enhancing its exclusivity and collectible appeal. With only 99 pieces produced worldwide, the release redefines limited-edition luxury. The custom trunk not only protects the clock but also frames it as a work of functional art.
“The Bugatti Calandre isn’t just a table clock—it’s a monument to precision, craftsmanship, and the enduring spirit of innovation,” said a Jacob & Co. spokesperson. “Each element is built to inspire, from the tourbillon movement to the crystal artistry.”
Comprising nearly 200 components, the Bugatti Calandre stands as a symbol of multidisciplinary luxury. It reinforces Jacob & Co.’s leadership in haute horology, while celebrating Bugatti’s design DNA and Lalique’s crystalline expertise.
