British luxury car manufacturer Jaguar has introduced its electric concept vehicle, the Type 00, marking a bold step in its new creative direction. The reveal took place at Miami Art Week, where the concept was showcased in detailed renderings, reflecting the company’s push for what it calls “exuberant modernism.” This design ethos aims to defy typical electric vehicle aesthetics and to infuse Jaguar’s iconic style with contemporary flair.
The exterior design of the Type 00 merges classic and avant-garde elements. It features a streamlined, fastback-like rear that contrasts with an angular, robust front and an eye-catching panoramic roof, said to offer “body-harmonising glazing.” One of the most striking aspects is the innovative “strikethrough” motif, which serves as a linear graphic across the front and rear, concealing the full-width taillights. The car’s front does not feature the traditional leaping jaguar emblem; instead, the new brand wordmark—rounded and minimalist—takes centre stage. The iconic leaping cat appears discreetly on the car’s side, laser-etched into a brass ingot that doubles as a mechanism revealing rear-facing cameras.
“Type 00 is a pure expression of Jaguar’s new creative philosophy,” said Gerry McGovern, Chief Creative Officer at Jaguar Land Rover. “It has an unmistakeable presence. This is the result of brave, unconstrained creative thinking, and unwavering determination. It is our first physical manifestation and the foundation stone for a new family of Jaguars that will look unlike anything you’ve ever seen. A vision which strives for the highest level of artistic endeavour.”
Constantino Segui Gilabert, Jaguar’s Chief Exterior Designer, called the Type 00 a “dramatic presence” that embodies British creativity and originality. “Jaguar is no place for ordinary,” he stated. “When you see a new Jaguar for the first time, it must have a sense of awe, of never having been seen before. Type 00 commands attention, like all the best Jaguars of the past.”
Inside, the Type 00 features a unique blend of materials: brass, travertine stone, and Kvadrat wool-blend woven textiles. Three brass lines extend along the doors and down the centre, creating a “spine,” while travertine serves as a plinth for the seats. The car also includes “Prism,” an interactive experience where users can place one of three totems—crafted from brass, travertine, or alabaster—into the centre console. This alters the interior’s ambiance, influencing elements like ambient lighting, soundscapes, and screen visuals.
“We have three key materials – brass, travertine stone and textiles – and the way we use these materials represents bold pieces of art and creates a unique atmosphere,” explained Mary Crisp, Jaguar’s Chief Materiality Designer.
The Type 00’s focus on concealed and innovative technology includes dashboards with sliding screens, powered stowage areas, and a live display that replaces the traditional rearview mirror. The concept car is available in two striking colours: Miami Pink and London Blue. The name “Type 00” nods to Jaguar’s heritage of model names like the classic E-Type, with the “zero” indicating zero tailpipe emissions and its status as the first in a new lineage.
Jaguar’s recent rebranding has been characterised as a “complete reset,” aiming to showcase its first production car—an electric four-door GT—in late 2025. The company is also set to open new “brand stores” globally as part of this transformation. However, the rebrand faced criticism, particularly after its launch on 18 November, with some commentators calling it “baffling.” Design writer Sophie Tolhurt noted that the company seemed to be “leaning on others’ visions of the future” rather than establishing its own distinct path.
