Five prominent local and regional artists are currently on display in the January Invitational Exhibit, showcasing their distinct styles and passion for the arts. Art enthusiasts are invited to immerse themselves in this visual treat at the First Thursday reception on Jan. 4, from 5-7 pm at 215 Fisk in downtown Brownwood. The event promises to be a celebration of artistic talent and community spirit and best of all – it’s free and open to the public.
Jeremy Serna, the dynamic owner of Painting With Friends in Brownwood, stands out with his expressive watercolours and innovative Paint Parties. A seasoned artist, demonstrator, and teacher, Serna is a familiar face at both the Brownwood Art Center and 1117 Studios and Gallery in Abilene. For him, the essence of art lies in plein air painting: “Life and nature are the best teachers,” he remarks.
From San Angelo, Keith Stinnett brings a multifaceted approach to art, experimenting with lithography, sculpture, and wood carving. His vibrant acrylic paintings, showcased at renowned venues like the Visitor Center and the Pop Art Museum in San Angelo, encapsulate his philosophy: “To blur the line between Art and Living every day!”
A. Michelle Fox, a prolific mixed-media artist, describes herself as a “contemporary historian” capturing life’s moments in vivid acrylic and oil paintings. Her work, rooted in conveying the emotive essence of our world, is currently showcased at 1117 Studios and Gallery in Abilene, where she also imparts her knowledge through art lessons.
Celty Kearney, renowned for her art instruction at Howard Payne University in Brownwood, channels her creativity into human and pet portraits, as well as captivating murals. With every brushstroke, Kearney’s mission is clear: “I’m leaving a colorful mark on the canvas of life, while inspiring others to embrace their creative spirits.”
Stephanie R. Prosser, a distinguished studio artist and muralist, has made an indelible impact on the Big Country through her vibrant paintings and intricate commercial signage. Her artistic influence extends beyond her studio, as she nurtures creativity as the Owner of 1117 Studios & Gallery in Abilene, a thriving hub for 10 resident artists.
The January exhibit, a testament to the region’s rich artistic landscape, will be on display through Jan. 24. Gallery enthusiasts can explore these captivating works from 2-6 pm, Monday to Friday.
