Through a London gallery, Johnny Depp is selling silk-screen prints of famous public figures like Heath Ledger and Bob Marley. The collection, called “Friends & Heroes II,” consists of four pieces and is signed by Depp. The whole collection costs £17,500 ($21,000) from Castle Fine Art, and includes portraits of Ledger, Marley, River Phoenix, and Hunter S. Thompson. These prints were initially available for individual purchase for $5,400 each, but they have all sold out after being on sale for two weeks.
According to the description on Castle Fine Art’s website, each portrait painted by Johnny Depp is a personal representation of the subject’s character as seen through his eyes. The portraits are based on photographic references and have been simplified to create an iconic portrayal of the subject. Depp then adds his own artistic flair to bring the portrait to life.
In the previous year, Johnny Depp’s signed collection of prints, named “Friends & Heroes,” was completely sold out when it was released for $4,740 per piece. This collection included famous personalities like Keith Richards, Al Pacino, Bob Dylan, and Elizabeth Taylor.
Depp’s profile on the gallery’s website mentions that he was born in Kentucky, went to Miramar High School in Florida, and has won many awards, including a People’s Choice Award for Favorite Movie Icon. Additionally, he has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
Currently, Johnny Depp is striving to revive his acting career after facing two prominent legal disputes with his ex-wife Amber Heard, who accused him of domestic violence. Although he lost a libel case against British tabloid The Sun, which labeled him as a “wife beater,” he won a second libel lawsuit against Heard in Virginia last year. Furthermore, Depp is preparing to direct his first movie in 25 years, a biopic of Italian artist Amedeo Modigliani, with Al Pacino as the producer.
