Jordanian chef Omar Al-Sartawi launched a one-of-a-kind dining experience where people can enjoy show-stopping visuals as well as culinary delights in his quest to combine his passions for food and art.
During a seven-course dinner, the Dubai-based Jordanian food artist and chef uses story-telling theatrics, illusion, and cutting-edge 3D graphic technology to introduce people to the works of seven different artists.
We wanted to combine food theatrics and food art with an actual immersive dining experience to create a really nice experience for the first time ever, where food is theatrical, there is storytelling and 3D animation on the table, and guests are engaged with food art. So that’s how the idea for this project came about,” Sartawi explained.
The internationally acclaimed chef for his extraordinary creations, along with executive chef Daniel Sheperd, recently launched the new concept in Dubai to engage people with the artworks of Michelangelo, Banksy, Pablo Picasso, Jackson Pollock, Andy Warhol, Salvador Dal, and Vincent van Gogh, all presented on the guest’s table.
During the two-hour dining experience, guests are not only transported to the world of artists, but they also get to feel like painters themselves, as they attempt to paint famous artworks that they can then eat.
“I think it’s a great idea to combine both to be able to actually paint your own food and eat it and taste it and it’s edible,” guest Rasha Qassab said.
