Following the recent introduction of the S506XX 1944 WWII Great War Model Jacket, Levi’s Vintage Clothing is extending its archival focus with a recreation of the 1944 501® Jeans Rigid. The release revisits a period when wartime rationing directly influenced the design of apparel. As a result, the design reflects the material constraints imposed during World War II, while preserving the core identity of the 501® silhouette.
Streamlined construction reflects historical constraints
Consistent with the original 1944 specification, the jeans adopt a pared-back build intended to conserve resources. Consequently, details such as watch pocket rivets, crotch rivet,s and the back waist cinch are absent. Instead, the hardware features utilitarian laurel leaf buttons and unbranded rivets, reinforcing the era’s functional priorities. Meanwhile, the high-waisted, regular fit remains intact, ensuring continuity with the model’s long-standing versatility. The denim itself is finished in pure indigo and singed to deliver a smooth, fuzz-free surface, aligning durability with refinement.
Pricing and availability
Priced at ¥41,800 JPY (approximately $260 USD), the 1944 501® Jeans Rigid will be distributed through an online lottery format. Submissions open on January 29 via the brand’s official webstore, marking another measured expansion of archival-inspired offerings aimed at collectors and heritage-focused consumers.
