With his face veiled and using transparent paint, Moe Al-Ghunaymi creates astounding live artwork on canvases using spray paint, varnish, and glitter that explores identity.
“In front of a large audience, I paint with my head, heart, and body. I’m painting with a transparent medium that is invisible to the eye, which makes this a unique and fascinating challenge. Everyone is shocked and impressed by the effects when I throw the glitter and the finished artwork appears, ” says Al-Ghunaymi, also known as Medo.
The senior graphic designer and the urban street artist continued, “I hide my face so that I am not constrained by what people think of me and can thus be the truest version of myself. I think they should look at my art instead of me because it comes from my inner essence. “
Medo was born in the land of the pyramids and was brought up in Makkah. He discovered his gift as the Kingdom’s art scene took off, and he swiftly rose to fame for his astounding works of art made with unusual materials like coffee, chocolate, and glow-in-the-dark paints.
All artists need inspiration to create, and the Jeddah-based artist gets his from the surroundings, other people, and their characteristics and behaviors.
His works include royal and western legendary portraits. But his portrait of Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman won a lot of admiration.
Additionally, he has collaborated on other projects with the Saudi General Entertainment Authority, including Saudi Seasons. He founded the clothing line Art Section and serves as a brand ambassador for the Chinese company Xtep Fashion Sport in Saudi Arabia. On Instagram, he offers his original art prints and paintings for NFTs at Apes Pop Art Club and Shop MEDO.
Shamma Hamdan, a vocalist from the UAE, Mohammed Assaf, from Palestine, and other well-known stars have purchased Medo’s work.
Everybody can enjoy art, according to Medo. “This is just the beginning for me, and I’m looking forward to using my artwork to portray the culture and traditions of the Kingdom. It is crucial for all aspiring and prospective artists to nurture their abilities and engage in creative endeavors of all kinds. ”
