Louis Vuitton has introduced a new timepiece in collaboration with master watchmaker Kari Voutilainen. This watch blends expert craftsmanship with the brand’s longstanding association with luxury travel.
Named the LVKV-02 GMR 6, the 40.5mm watch is an evolution of the Escale model, which debuted last year. The name “Escale,” meaning “stopover” in English, reflects Louis Vuitton’s deep-rooted history in travel. Notably, the design pays homage to the brand’s renowned trunkmaking. Its lugs feature angular details and rivets, resembling the brass brackets found on Louis Vuitton’s iconic leather trunks.
Louis Vuitton: Artistic Precision and Technical Mastery
The dial, crafted from gold, consists of four precisely manufactured sections. The hour circle showcases a hand-painted decoration by Maryna Bossy, requiring 32 hours and 28 colors to complete. At the center, Voutilainen’s hand guilloché technique adds intricate patterns using curved and straight lines.
Moreover, the lower sub-dial displays a day-night disc, featuring hand-engraved sun and moon motifs. Inspired by the brand’s monogram flower, these elements appear in vibrant saffron and blue tones. The GMR 6 moniker reflects the watch’s unique functions—”R” represents the power reserve display, while “6” marks the placement of the second time zone subdial.
Designed with travelers in mind, the GMT disc lets users set a “home” time. Additionally, adjusting the central hour hand is effortless, as it shifts instantly with a click of the crown.
Limited Edition with Exclusive Packaging
Louis Vuitton will produce only five of these exceptional watches, making them highly collectible. To further elevate exclusivity, each piece will be delivered in a bespoke travel trunk, handcrafted at the House’s Asnières workshop.
Although the brand has not disclosed the watch’s price, interested buyers can explore its details on the official Louis Vuitton website.
