The Authority of Social Contribution – Ma’an, in collaboration with Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, has launched a community-driven initiative to mobilize volunteers in delivering guided tours across Abu Dhabi’s key cultural landmarks.
Community-Led Cultural Engagement
At the heart of the initiative is a volunteer network designed to enhance visitor experiences while fostering social impact. A total of 280 volunteers contributed 2,240 hours, guiding international visitors affected by travel disruptions through major sites on Saadiyat Island.
These included the iconic Louvre Abu Dhabi, the upcoming Zayed National Museum, and Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi. Through these tours, volunteers helped create welcoming, memorable experiences while showcasing the emirate’s cultural depth.
Strengthening Social Cohesion
The initiative reflects a broader commitment to compassion, inclusivity, and community cohesion. By engaging residents directly in cultural storytelling, the program bridges connections between local communities and international visitors.
Her Excellency Maysa Al Nuwais emphasized that the effort highlights Abu Dhabi’s values of generosity and solidarity, while reinforcing Ma’an’s mission to empower individuals to contribute meaningfully to society.
Culture as a Platform for Connection
From the perspective of Department of Culture and Tourism – Abu Dhabi, the initiative demonstrates how cultural institutions can serve as platforms for community engagement. Volunteers not only guided visitors but also shared the identity and heritage of the emirate, strengthening its reputation for authentic hospitality.
Looking Ahead
The program remains open to new participants, with prospective volunteers encouraged to join future initiatives through Ma’an’s official platform. By continuing to activate community networks, Abu Dhabi reinforces a model where culture and civic engagement work hand in hand—creating meaningful, human-centered experiences for both residents and visitors alike.
