This summer, Manchester City Center will host a one-day event celebrating art and innovation. Art Fund, in collaboration with a group of Manchester’s premier arts organizations, will stage Art Assembly 2022 – City as Art School on Saturday, June 18.
Throughout the city, the festival will present newly co-commissioned and co-created artworks and installations. The event is organized by Art Fund, a national art fundraising organization, in collaboration with some of Manchester’s most prestigious art institutions, including Castlefield Gallery, HOME, Manchester Art Gallery, The Whitworth, and The Manchester College.
People will be able to see eight new artworks by ten Greater Manchester artists broadcasted around the city, demonstrating how busy squares, streets, pavements, and billboards can all be used as a site of creative learning. These works are created in a variety of media, including video, painting, textiles, performance, and music.
Owing to a series of online workshops with artist David Blandy and young artists from the Venture Arts studio who reimagined Manchester 8000 years from now. They’ll be renovating their space for the Art Assembly.
Art Assembly 2022 occurs as part of the programme, which celebrates Manchester’s children and young people with a city-wide approach aimed at assisting them in shaping a secure, happy, and healthy future. It is meant to be a year of action in the arts and cultural sector, with greater chances, experience, and assistance.
Finally, a live recording of Art Fund’s Meet Me at the Museum podcast will be performed in front of an audience at HOME. The podcast debuted in 2018 and provides insights into the country’s cultural offerings.
