Mercedes-AMG has introduced the CONCEPT AMG GT XX, a fully electric four-door coupe that delivers a remarkable 1,360 horsepower through three axial flux motors. Built on the new AMG.EA platform, the GT XX signals the brand’s aggressive move into electric performance. It also integrates a high-voltage battery system with direct cell cooling, enabling speeds exceeding 223 mph without sacrificing stability or endurance.
What truly sets the GT XX apart is its ability to recharge 400 km of range in just five minutes. This breakthrough is made possible by AMG’s advanced charging technology. Drawing expertise from Formula 1 engineers in Brixworth, the development process prioritised not just speed, but sustained performance. From rigorous endurance testing to thermal control management, every element was engineered for consistent peak output.
The design reflects its high-performance intent. With sunset beam orange luminescent paint, recessed handles, and fluid lighting across the rear, the car blends aerodynamic function with visual drama. Its fastback silhouette reinforces speed, but every detail serves a clear performance purpose.
Driver-Centric Interior and Lightweight Focus
Inside, the GT XX adopts a minimalist but focused approach. Two large screens are angled toward the driver, framed by exposed structural elements for a technical aesthetic. Instead of traditional materials, AMG chose biotech leather derived from recycled GT3 tires and used 3D-printed seat pads to enhance ergonomics.
Rear windows are entirely absent, as the designers favoured lightweighting and full driver immersion. This choice further underlines the concept’s dedication to pure performance. Meanwhile, active aero wheels adjust dynamically — opening for brake cooling or closing to reduce drag — showcasing the car’s functional ingenuity.
Additional innovations include the use of NCMA cylindrical battery cells, cooled by an oil-based high-voltage system. Orange high-voltage accents and a prominent AMG crest inside the cabin add to the futuristic and raw visual identity.
A Preview of AMG’s Electric Future
Although Mercedes-Benz has not confirmed production plans, the CONCEPT AMG GT XX is a bold glimpse into the brand’s electric future. It combines staggering power, advanced battery technology, and purposeful design in a way that redefines expectations for performance EVs. Through this concept, AMG clearly signals its intent to lead the next era of electrified speed.
