Sumaira Mohammed Ashik is a young Dubai based abstract artist who moved to the Emirates from India around 8 years back and developed her career. She is known for fusion of metallic textured abstracts and calligraphy. For Sumaira abstracts was an expression of art. Using materials such as modeling paste, palette knives and paint scrapers allow her to build layers, texture and contrast to give a 3d view to each work.
The artist likes to create mixed media abstracts as well as fluid abstracts using minimal as well as heavy textures. Combining this with her passion for incorporating Arabic calligraphy into her work help her to create a masterpiece original contemporary Arabic calligraphy abstract. “Even if it’s completely abstract, the artwork has its own inner sound” says Sumaira.
For last five years, her passion has helped her to enhance residential and commercial interior with a bespoke piece of contemporary artwork. She worked directly with her clients, as well as interior designers. She uses to participate in local art markets such as Ripe and Arte.

Her digital calligraphy designs are present around the emirates, as her products are being used in eleven stores of Home box all over the UAE and altogether 37 stores in GCC.
Apart from self-taught artist she is now tutor at the workshop Dubai, Jumeirah. Since last two years she has conducted 15-20 workshops in both abstract as well as basic Arabic calligraphy.
