Independent watchmaker MING celebrates its eighth anniversary with the release of the 57.04 Iris, a model that introduces the brand’s fifth-generation design language. This milestone piece is the brand’s first-ever destro (left-hand) monopusher chronograph, set within a 40 mm stainless-steel case. Designed for versatility, it offers a refined balance between strong aesthetics and daily practicality.
The watch features a deeply dished brass dial beneath a domed sapphire crystal, finished with an iridescent “Iris” coating. This treatment shifts between turquoise, purple and blue as light moves across its surface. Around the bezel and caseband, alternating polished and satin-brushed facets create dynamic contrasts. Laser-cut indices, filled with MING’s Polar White lume, appear to hover below the crystal, while stepped lugs made of nine components each enhance the sculptural Art Deco-inspired profile. With 100 meters of water resistance, the 57.04 Iris is suited for both casual and adventurous settings.
Precision Movement and Technical Detailing
Inside the case beats a bespoke Sellita Cal. SW562.M1 monopusher chronograph, adapted for destro operation to accommodate a large, tactile crown and pusher. The 30-minute counter positioned at 6 o’clock uses sandwich-style construction, revealing Super-LumiNova for enhanced legibility. A 4N-coated three-quarter plate contrasts with the anthracite finish, adding a distinct visual depth to the movement.
