Blue Green Works has launched “Crown,” a sculptural lighting collection designed by Creative Director Peter B. Staples. This refined series reinterprets the crown symbol through minimalist forms, drawing inspiration from tattoo motifs and medieval heraldry. Handcrafted in the Pacific Northwest, the four lighting pieces reflect the studio’s dedication to American craft and material innovation.
Symbolic Geometry in Light and Form
Each fixture in the “Crown” series—comprising three pendants and one flush mount—features petal-like glass elements radiating from a polished steel or brass core. The result is a striking interplay between geometry and light, with each design casting both a soft upward glow and a directional beam below. Staples drew inspiration from Pierre Paulin’s biomorphic curves, fusing modernist sensibility with sculptural purpose.
Craftsmanship Meets Contemporary Iconography
Made through a meticulous, multi-phase process, the pieces embody Blue Green Works’ evolving design language, first seen in its “Palm” series. The “Crown” fixtures strip away extraneous detail, allowing the silhouette and movement of light to evoke presence and poise. The result is a design that bridges historical references and modern-day minimalism.
Available online and through select design retailers like SCP in London and Triode in Paris, the collection celebrates craftsmanship while offering a fresh visual take on ceremonial tradition.
