To improve the idea of waterfront living, Dubai-based master developer Nakheel has announced a new vision for Dubai Islands. Dubai Islands, formerly known as Deira Islands, will offer modern living experiences, cultural hubs, recreational sport beaches, and beach clubs, all in one integrated site with easy access to the city and airport, in keeping with Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan.
Over 80 resorts and hotels, including luxury and health resorts, boutique, family-friendly, and eco-conscious hotels, will be located on the islands.
With more than 20 kilometres of beaches, including one that has earned the Blue Flag, about two square kilometres of parks and open spaces, and upscale golf courses with views of the Arabian Gulf, Dubai Islands will extend the number of kilometres of beaches and the size of the areas designated for public parks.
The Dubai 2040 Urban Master Plan is supported by a well-connected network of marina promenades and paths for marine and land transportation, walking and bicycling, and other recreational activities.
Naaman Atallah, CEO of Nakheel stated, “Dubai Islands are a vital component of the future vision for the emirate, concentrating on boosting the health, happiness, and welfare of inhabitants and visitors, as well as delivering the highest standards and variety of urban infrastructure and facilities.” As another destination inside a destination, Dubai Islands will be added to the Nakheel portfolio of residential, retail, hospitality, and leisure complexes.
The Dubai Islands are close to Dubai’s northern coast and are easily reached by road bridges and watercraft from both land and the sea.
The 20,500 square metre site is situated on The Palm’s East Crescent and offers views of Dubai Marina to the south and west, the rest of the Palm, the Burj Khalifa, and the Burj Al Arab to the east.
