Elyasaf Maymon is an artist based in Israel who specializes in realistic acrylic paintings. His work aims to examine our relationship with nature. Nature in art can take many visual forms, from photorealism to abstraction. Art can mimic nature, by seeking to visually replicate objects as they actually appear in real life. There are many different ways to approach the subject of nature in art. Art can open our eyes to the intricacy and beauty of the natural world. It can be a challenging piece expressing our complex human connection to nature but that is the beauty of it.
In these hyperreal, digital times, it is easy to forget that we are susceptible to natural forces. Art can help us become more conscious of our true relationship with nature. Elyasaf studied for a period of time at Bezalel institution but his big development began from his own independent learning and research.
His greatest inspiration is nature that he finds around the world. Currently, he is working on a series of beautiful paintings from India and Nepal where he has toured.
Most of us know the feeling of being moved by a work of art, whether it is a song, a play, a poem, a novel, or a painting. When we are touched, we are moved; we are transported to a new place that is, nevertheless, strongly rooted in a physical experience, in our bodies. Elyasaf’s message to other artists is that “our creations are influential, so keep creating”.
Creating art requires us to open our own hearts, be vulnerable and share the truth of who we are but once someone connects to this art, the feeling is immensely rewarding. Elyasaf is most proud of the fact that he is able to touch people with his art.
