Jil Sander, the renowned minimalist fashion label, has ventured into the world of luxury fragrances with its debut Olfactory Series 1. Known for its clean lines and understated elegance, the fashion brand’s first-ever unisex fragrance collection is as refined and sleek as its clothing designs. This new line aims to expand the brand’s lifestyle presence, making a mark in key global beauty markets, particularly in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region, where the label will soon open a new store in Dubai.

Crafting Fragrance with Precision and Minimalism: Jil Sander
The six fragrances in Olfactory Series 1 embody Jil Sander’s signature minimalist ethos while pushing the boundaries of traditional scent composition. Created in collaboration with Coty, a beauty powerhouse, the collection employs a radical approach to fragrance-making. Instead of relying on an overload of ingredients, the brand focuses on three essential natural components complemented by aldehydes—a synthetic molecule that enhances the complexity of each scent. The perfumes are also crafted using upcycled carbon emissions-derived alcohol, which aligns with the brand’s commitment to sustainability.
The guiding principle behind the fragrance line is to recalibrate traditional proportions, allowing for fresh interpretations of classic notes. The six scents include:
- Jil Sander Leaf – Created with the help of Julie Massé, this scent blends key lime, cardamom, and cornmint to evoke a light, refreshing aura.
- Jil Sander Miel – Developed by Mathilde Bijaoui, this fragrance combines cedarwood, vetiver, and jasmine grandiflorum, creating a warm, earthy scent.
- Black Tea, Earth, Coffea, and Smoke round out the collection, each with distinct compositions designed to explore different facets of the olfactory experience.
A Vision in Design and Sustainability
Just as Jil Sander’s clothing is characterized by its clean and modern design, the brand’s fragrance bottles mirror this aesthetic. In partnership with Formafantasma, a Milan and Rotterdam-based design studio, the packaging reflects organic, non-symmetrical shapes and unique glass repartitions. The experimental designs evoke a sense of innovation, with each bottle feeling as artisanal as the fragrance it contains.
The Jil Sander Olfactory Series 1 is now available for purchase on the brand’s webstore, with prices ranging from $70 to $360 USD. This launch marks a bold step for Jil Sander as it continues to redefine luxury across both fashion and fragrance.
