A bridge is a medium that connects one from point A to point B. In the artistic world, such a bridge exists that serves as a connector between the long-standing art institutions and the new influx of digitalization in art.

NFTs, known as non-fungible tokens, have taken on the mantle as a new form of art at the intersection of technology and art. NFTs are minted digitally and gain their value due to the nature of the blockchain-based origins of these digital art tokens. Blockchain is the technology that enabled the birth of NFTs through an artist’s prowess. This fact provides NFT an opportunity to become a new art form in the coming years, as it enables artists and animators alike to extend their work formats and explore different ways to showcase their subjects.

“I don’t actually consider myself a digital artist. My animations are based on paintings, and I’ve been exhibiting my work for as long as I can remember in physical galleries. I do animations to see movement… It’s an extension of my art practice,” said Mr. Calleja. A Filipino animator who found NFTs as an extension of his animations and a platform to showcase his works.

Today, the jury is still out for NFTs. Though some groups refer to it as an element of fine art, many avid art followers still prefer physical canvases over digital tokens. This simple fact speaks volumes about the public’s general perception of art created through technology. But, there have been some great showcases of digital works by artists that make an exciting case in support of art composed through and with technology.

Education is vital in introducing a new art form to the general public. Galleries and art forums are the best places to get started. By providing a space for NFTs to be appreciated, we stand to see the bridge widen and enable the general community to understand and be aware of this new medium of art, NFT art.

We must realize that today art means a lot of different things. With software like Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop, one can achieve mind-boggling fidelity through digital art.

Digital art is an essential element of modern art history, and finding ways for it to become part of mainstream art alongside physical compositions is a great way to bridge technology and art.

The perspective exists when we see NFTs as the bridge between existing art institutions and new artists. With the rise of digital art and artists, collectors have started taking interest in such works. Galleries and forums that used to host physical art now find themselves providing for the demand of having physical spaces to showcase NFTs.

NFTs are a product of art enabled by technology.

Riding on this wave of generative art, NFT artists has enjoyed growing popularity. Using artificial intelligence and machine learning/algorithms, artists can tap into the power of programming to develop new media and add new interactive elements to their works. Such as infinite zooms, 3D landscapes, life-like fidelity, and so much more.

Technology has changed every aspect of our lives, so why not art?

We believe that NFT art stands to augment existing art communities and styles. Combining the creativity and ingenuity of an artist with a machine-learning algorithm to generate art in minutes allows for extraordinary ways for artists to tell stories through their paintings.

All in all, technology and art are uncharted territory for all us art enthusiasts. We believe that with so many instances of NFT art breaking new ground in terms of the technology applied and the stories told through the works, we should give NFT art a chance to reduce the gap between technology and art in the 21st century.
