Nike is bringing Devin Booker’s signature line back to college basketball with a limited Player Edition release that targets both performance consumers and loyal alumni. At the same time, the launch connects modern product engineering with long-term brand storytelling tied to one of the most recognizable programs in U.S. college sports.

Heritage positioning meets performance design

First, the Nike Book 2 “Kentucky Wildcats” PE marks the 30th anniversary of the university’s 1996 national championship. Moreover, the release reframes the shoe as a heritage-driven product rather than a standard team colorway. Instead, Nike applies lifestyle-inspired materials to reflect Booker’s preference for vintage styling. At the same time, the company refines the Book 2 silhouette for the physical demands of elite collegiate play.

Notably, the upper uses faded indigo denim textures to create a worn-in appearance that differs from traditional synthetic basketball construction. Meanwhile, Royal Blue accents on the lining, laces, and heel tabs reinforce the school’s identity. In addition, a white midsole with a thin blue stripe at the heel visually anchors the design and keeps attention on the experimental upper.

Product strategy and controlled market release

Structurally, Book 2 evolves from Booker’s debut model through a more structured collar and a reinforced midfoot. Consequently, the shoe delivers improved lateral stability for high-speed directional movement. Furthermore, the design positions the model as a hybrid that can transition between competitive play and everyday wear.

However, Nike will not pursue a broad retail rollout for this edition. Instead, the company has partnered exclusively with Hibbett for a commemorative release. As a result, the shoe enters the market as a collector-oriented product aimed primarily at Kentucky supporters. Finally, the Nike Book 2 “Kentucky Wildcats” PE will be available on February 7, 2026, from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. ET at select Hibbett locations only.
