Nissan’s Formula E Team has revealed a striking new livery for the Tokyo E-Prix, designed by renowned Japanese illustrator Kentaro Yoshida. This special edition design reimagines Nissan’s iconic Sakura theme through a nostalgic 8-bit arcade style, coinciding with the launch of the NISMO Electric Racer Tokyo game that has already attracted thousands of players worldwide.

From Virtual Game to Real-World Racing

Following the release of the retro-style NISMO Electric Racer Tokyo arcade game, Yoshida’s pixelated design now comes to life on the track. The game has seen enthusiastic participation from fans and Nissan Formula E drivers including Oliver Rowland and Norman Nato, making the livery’s race debut a natural extension of this digital engagement.

Kentaro Yoshida expressed his excitement in an exclusive interview: “Tokyo is my home E-Prix, and to see my work feature on the car is an honour. Japanese racing culture is so unique, and reimagining the iconic Sakura theme in 8-bit style allowed me to bring a fresh yet nostalgic energy to the team’s visual identity.”

Celebrating Tokyo’s Electric Spirit and Gaming Heritage

The pixelated Sakura design channels Tokyo’s vibrant electric streets and gaming culture, symbolizing a fusion of tradition and innovation. The limited-run livery will be showcased during the Tokyo E-Prix on May 17–18, highlighting Nissan’s commitment to creativity, local pride, and cutting-edge electric racing.
