kanvas Dubai, the city’s pioneering immersive art hub at Al Khayat Avenue, Al Quoz 1, is proud to unveil NOWADEUS, a groundbreaking large-scale immersive art experience by Tim Christie, the renowned New Zealand-based multidisciplinary artist, in collaboration with creative producer and animator The Grid. Following its acclaimed debut in New Zealand, the exhibit now makes its Middle Eastern premiere in Dubai.
Step into a surreal world where seven monumental “icons of today” take shape — bold, visual representations of contemporary obsessions: technology, fitness, beauty, fame, materialism, outrage, and power. NOWADEUS offers a fully immersive and cinematic experience that invites audiences to explore what truly captures their attention in today’s fast-paced, distraction-filled world.
Christie’s vivid, larger-than-life characters are brought to life in collaboration with The Grid, a motion design studio, fusing stunning visuals with subconscious storytelling. Together, they create a thought-provoking universe that challenges the balance between attraction and distraction in the modern age.
The exhibition is further enhanced by an original score from composer Tom McLeod and an enveloping spatial sound design by Mike Hodgson, offering a fully sensory journey that transcends traditional art. Following a successful run at The Grid in August 2024, NOWADEUS is set to transform kanvas Dubai into an unforgettable stage for sound, light, and imagination.
