Nike has officially unveiled the Kobe Air Force 1 Low Protro “City of Champions,” linking Kobe Bryant’s legacy with the historic Inglewood Forum. Notably, the release follows the Kobe 1 Protro, which spotlighted venues tied to championship culture. Moreover, the silhouette honors the arena that housed the Lakers from 1967 to 1999. During that period, the franchise established its long-standing reputation as a dominant force. As a result, the sneaker positions, place, and legacy are central elements of its narrative.
Materials, Details, and Release Timing
To convey that history, the design relies on a deliberate mix of materials. Specifically, a soft blue corduroy upper contrasts with smooth white leather panels. In addition, cracked leather Swooshes echo the distinctive texture of the Forum’s exterior. Consequently, the overall presentation delivers a refined, vintage character rooted in Los Angeles history.
Branding remains subtle but purposeful throughout. Inside the shoe, a “67–99” marking behind the tongue references the Forum’s years as the team’s home. Meanwhile, an insole graphic maps the arena’s location in Inglewood. A glow-in-the-dark outsole further reinforces the theme, mirroring how the venue lights the night sky. Looking ahead, the pair is expected to arrive sometime in February 2026.
