On National Day, the ethereal environment of AlUla is filled with music

In honor of Saudi Arabia’s 92nd National Day on Friday, local and foreign performers performed at one of the Kingdom’s most distinctive venues as part of the second AlUla Azimuth festival. Saudi citizens and foreign guests greeted a roster of DJs and acts that lit up the stage in vibrant light and fire shows while surrounded by the rocky topography of the historic AlUla.

The Royal Commission for AlUla and MDLBEAST both felt it was crucial to include international artists in the celebration of the Kingdom’s founding in order to foster more opportunities for cross-cultural interaction and audience attractiveness.

“It gives us an opportunity to interact with other artists and performers while bringing in what the local audience desires. Understanding what tastes we can add each time to change things up is necessary.

The AlUla commission originally came up with the Azimuth concept, however this year’s programming was done in cooperation with the top entertainment firm and record label MDLBEAST. The two organizations produced and designed an experience unlike any other, engrossing the crowd with laser shows and projections on the valley mountains.

Saudi DJs Durar and Solskin played back-to-back sets early in the evening to energize the crowd. Majid Jordan, a Canadian R&B duo that frequently works with Drake, came next and replaced their customary calm vocals with a creative DJ set.
