This year, colored diamonds created history by dominating the main Sotheby’s jeweler auctions in Hong Kong, Geneva, and New York. The Golden Canary, the centerpiece of Sotheby’s Magnificent Jewels auction in New York on December 7 with an estimate of $15 million, was unveiled today by Sotheby’s Dubai, adding to the lineup.
One of the largest polished diamonds in the world and the largest flawless or internally flawless diamond ever graded by the Gemological Institute of America is the Fancy Deep Brownish-Yellow Diamond, which measures 303.10 carats (GIA).
The Golden Canary has been reshaped from its original shield-shape into a classic pear-shape, and it is now richer in color and more vibrant.
“We are pleased to continue to celebrate the UAE as the ultimate location for fans of luxury, with the global revelation of a gemstone of such amazing class with a selling display created by our team here on the ground,” said Katia Nounou Boueiz, head of Sotheby’s UAE.
A selection of unique luxury products is also now on display at Sotheby’s Dubai, and all of them can be bought right away. The sale show, which is open to the public until November 4th, features a variety of hand-embellished Hermes Birkin and Kelly handbags that luxury designer Jay Ahr has altered. The collection is being displayed in the Middle East for the first time.
Additionally, the new collection by Lebanese jeweler designer Gaelle Khouri will be on display. It consists of a number of graphic or sensual items made of yellow, white, or rose gold that are frequently adorned with diamonds and other precious stones. The exhibition also features modern photography by Lalla Essaydi, a Moroccan-born artist.
