Architecture firms BKK Architects and Cottee Parker have unveiled plans for One Park Lane, a landmark twin-tower development in Southport, Gold Coast, which could become Australia’s tallest skyscraper. If built, the 101-storey residential tower will rise to nearly 400 metres, surpassing the country’s current tallest building, the Q1 Tower.

The ambitious project is being developed by Baracon and Tony Goss, with design refinement led by Cottee Parker during the building phase. The 1,507-square-metre site, currently approved for a 25-storey structure, is under fresh planning assessment by the City of Gold Coast Council.

Twin towers with sculptural design and sky bridge

One Park Lane features a 101-storey residential tower and a 60-storey commercial tower, joined at the 22nd floor by a curved glass sky bridge offering sweeping city views. At ground level, a three-storey sculptural podium with large reflective arches will connect the towers and create active engagement with the street. A shared underground car park will also serve both towers.

Designed to reflect contemporary urban aspirations, the towers showcase curved facades, glazing, and generous terraces, offering residents and workers enhanced access to light and outdoor space.

“This development will help address the desperate need for more housing on the Gold Coast and stimulate broader economic activity,” said Brett Rogers, Managing Director at Baracon. “We know the private sector plays a vital role in solving the housing shortage, and we’re proud to be part of that solution.”

High-rise housing and premium commercial space

The residential tower will include 176 apartments, topped by a three-storey penthouse and two dual-level sub-penthouses. The commercial tower will house over 11,500 square metres of office space, supporting the area’s business infrastructure and attracting new tenants to the central business district.

Residents will benefit from resort-style amenities, direct access to transport links, and curated outdoor spaces that blend urban living with leisure.

“One Park Lane is exactly the kind of catalytic development we want to see in Southport,” said Brooke Patterson, councillor for Division 6. “The development will bring new residents, high-quality commercial space, and exciting hospitality offerings, helping to activate the CBD and support local businesses.”

If approved and constructed, One Park Lane would also edge out the 356-metre tower planned by UNStudio and Cox Architecture in Melbourne, reaffirming Southport’s emerging status as a high-density, mixed-use hub.
