Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has unveiled a new logo for Range Rover, continuing its broader branding overhaul across its luxury marques. The debut of a mirrored ‘RR’ emblem, paired with a distinctive new “Range Rover Pattern,” signals a fresh visual chapter as the brand moves closer to launching its first electric SUV.
Range Rover Introduces Mirrored ‘RR’ Emblem
The new Range Rover logo features two mirrored capital Rs stacked vertically, creating a modern, graphic symbol distinct from its traditional wordmark. While JLR has already refreshed its core branding with a hybrid uppercase-lowercase typeface, expectations remain high for similar visual changes to be introduced for Defender and Discovery models.
This updated emblem is not intended to replace the familiar “Range Rover” badge that appears across the vehicle lineup. Instead, reports suggest that the symbol will serve as a compact alternative for use in smaller spaces such as labels, event branding, or digital content — a move in line with evolving global branding trends.
The ‘Range Rover Pattern’ Could Signal Design Shift
Alongside the logo, the brand has introduced the Range Rover Pattern — a checkerboard motif formed by interlocking, rotated Rs. Though the company has yet to announce its practical application, the design is expected to appear across upholstery, speaker grilles, front fascias, and other interior or exterior elements.
Industry observers speculate this pattern could become a distinguishing feature for Range Rover vehicles, separating them more clearly from Land Rover’s mainstream offerings. Comparisons are already being drawn to Mercedes-Maybach’s SL680 Monogram Series, which used patterned branding across multiple surfaces.
A Risky Rebrand or Strategic Refresh?
This move follows a string of recent branding experiments by JLR, including the controversial Jaguar Type 00 Concept and the bold “Copy Nothing” campaign. While some of these efforts have sparked debate, the introduction of this new logo and motif appears more calculated — aligning with Range Rover’s upcoming EV launch and luxury positioning.
Whether this refresh adds value or stirs criticism remains to be seen, but it certainly reflects JLR’s ongoing push to redefine each brand under its portfolio with clearer visual identities.
