Robbie Williams rang in the year 2022 with an exclusive gala performance that rolled back the years. With a crowd-pleasing gig at Dubai’s Atlantis, The Palm, the British pop sensation was in classic form, setting the tone for the year for the artist.
In 2022, the former Take That frontman will mark the 25th anniversary of his solo career. Williams took the stage shortly before 11 p.m., wearing a gold sequined jacket and performing an almost chronological greatest hits set.
Beginning with the victorious Let Me Entertain You from her debut album Life Thru A Lens in 1997, the 47-year-old vocalist screamed out a collection of successes that reflected the progression of British pop music over the previous 25 years. The present-day reality, on the other hand, managed to break through the nostalgic set.
Williams had to ask the audience to adopt social distancing procedures by moving away from the front of the stage for the first time in his career.
“With Covid, this is the reality of the day, and we have to be safe,” he explained. “As you know, nothing pleases me more than a large divide between myself and the people.”
Aside from the distance, hits like the touching Feel, She’s The One, and Better Man was able to immerse the crowd and served as an electrifying lead-up to the New Year’s Eve countdown and fireworks.
