Various cultural events have been planned as the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia prepares to celebrate its Founding Day on February 22. Various events, including an art exhibition and historical cultural seminars, will be held around Saudi Arabia to commemorate the day, which honors the Kingdom’s long-standing origins that date back over three centuries.
The Saudi Cabinet established the day to celebrate the country’s founding in 1727 by Imam Mohammed bin Saud earlier this month, and the Kingdom will honour it for the first time on February 22. To commemorate the occasion, the Kingdom will be engulfed in a flurry of activities. The event ‘The Beginning’ will take place in Wadi Namar in Riyadh’s capital city, with 3,500 actors portraying the Kingdom’s history spanning three centuries in ten scenes.
On February 23, at the Mohammed Abdo Arena in Riyadh Boulevard, a musical theatrical event titled “Founding Operetta” will showcase six historical icons who lived during the three centuries, beginning with the founder.
The ‘Majlis’ event, which features a series of interactive workshops and conversations documenting the cultural aspects of the first Saudi state, will take place at the National Museum in Riyadh. Over the course of two days, several regions of the Kingdom will host various activities highlighting the Saudi state’s historical, cultural, and social legacy up to the present.
