Streetwear designer and artist Sean Wotherspoon has unveiled his latest creative automotive collaboration: a bold reinterpretation of the iconic Porsche 911 Carrera 2.7 RS. Drenched in colour-blocked livery and filled with upcycled vintage textiles, the car redefines classic luxury with a rebellious twist.
A Rolling Canvas of Colour and Craft
Unveiled via Type 7, Wotherspoon’s one-of-a-kind creation reimagines the 911 RS as an artistic expression of nostalgia and innovation. Influenced by his lifelong love for Volkswagen Harlequin models, the car features vivid segments of green, yellow, red, and blue — including a standout “Old Red” hood referencing Meyers Manx’s vintage palette.
The interior is equally daring. Wotherspoon and his team — led by the craftsmanship of Meyers Manx’s artisans — lined the cabin with repurposed Levi’s denim, 1990s flannel, cork panels, and corduroy. Door cards even include functional Levi’s pockets, adding to the tactile and visual intrigue.
Collaboration and Concept
The project was commissioned by collector Philip Sarofim and directed creatively by Stuff by Spot’s Jimmy Howson. It took Wotherspoon eight months to complete, with every detail carefully stitched to reflect a blend of heritage fashion, colour theory, and car culture.
“This car is about using as much colour as possible in a way that sparks curiosity,” Wotherspoon explained. “Nature never gets criticised for being colourful. This is my way of bringing that same beauty to the road.”
Captured through the lens of Hagop Kalaidjian, Creative Director at Meyers Manx, the finished piece debuted on the streets of Los Angeles, immediately attracting attention and acclaim from the design and automotive communities.
