After the successful Porsche 2.7 RS collaboration, Sean Wotherspoon and Jimmy Howson’s Stuff by Spot unveiled their next heritage-driven creation at Monterey Car Week: a reimagined 1958 Land Rover Series 2.
Built in England and delivered to a Canadian engineer in 1959, this left-hand-drive model spent over four decades with its first owner. It later returned to the UK in 2002 and remains remarkably rare—one of only six LHD Series 2 examples in the UK and just one of three still on its original chassis.
Original Panels, Modern Performance
Howson purchased the vehicle earlier this year and completed a meticulous rebuild between March and July in Essex. The restoration preserved as many original panels as possible while introducing modern functionality. Upgrades include a rebuilt engine and gearbox, Wolf alloys, Apple CarPlay integration, and a custom rear seating setup with built-in speakers.
A Fusion of Heritage and Innovation
Unlike the Porsche project, which emphasized vivid color detailing, this Land Rover focuses on authenticity with subtle innovation. Wotherspoon’s design philosophy shines through, blending provenance and creativity to celebrate one of Britain’s most iconic utility vehicles through a contemporary lens.
