Marina Kusraeva was born in the Russian city of Anapa, on the Black Sea coast. The sea has always held a special place in her heart. She spent several years learning about all the details of seascape painting and had studied under famous marine painters of Russia. Growing up by the sea, made her realize how to sense it. Now she knew how to express her emotions through the canvas. The sea is like a second home, warm and inviting. It gives a sense of peace and hope, as well as happiness and limitless possibilities.
Every time you look at the Marinas’ artworks, you will feel a connection. With just one glance you’ll be transported to the shore, watching the waves pound against the sand and spray everywhere. It evokes strong feelings that almost make you hear the waves crashing on the shore. Her main painting technique is to apply thin layers of paint, creating multilayer pieces of art. This helps to achieve vividness in her works. The realism and emotional immersiveness of her paintings attract more and more fans around the world.
A whale swimming through the sky, making its way through the darkness towards light, is an uncommon symbol in Marina’s art. The whale conjures a sense of weightlessness and a surreal sensation as if such a massive creature can float through the sky with such ease. It’s a reassuring picture. We all need to be free of the constraints we are currently experiencing. Marina has been a member of the Russian Association of Marine Painters since 2019. Her work can be found in private collections in the United Arab Emirates and has been exhibited in the gallery Arts Crossroad in Zug, Switzerland, and in a personal exhibition in Osaka, Japan, in December 2021.
