Renowned actress Sharon Stone has made her mark on the silver screen with a career spanning decades, but she is now showcasing her artistic talents in her first East Coast art exhibition titled “Welcome to My Garden.” The exhibit is currently on display at the C. Parker Gallery in Greenwich, Connecticut, just an hour outside of New York City.
In a recent Zoom interview with the iconic 65-year-old Emmy and Golden Globe winner, Sharon Stone shared her journey into the art world, which took off during the global pandemic. While she had dabbled in painting during her college years and had even sold some of her works, she had never considered it a viable career path. Instead, she pursued acting, which brought her fame and fortune. However, her passion for painting persisted.
During the pandemic, Stone converted her guest house into an art studio to accommodate her growing interest in painting. Her turning point came when she brought a painting as a gift to a friend’s birthday party, and the demand for her art exploded. Just days later, she received an offer for her first art show, which marked her official entry into the art world.
When asked about the difference between acting and painting, Stone described her art as “another form of expression.” She emphasized her love for visiting museums, where she enjoys uninterrupted moments with artwork and sculptures. She mentioned that having a unique privilege allows her to have a profound art education.
The conversation took an unexpected turn when Stone delved into the topic of politics. She expressed her concern about the current division in the United States and the need for political unity. She stated, “We’re in this divided period when it comes to politics so I wanted to work on surrealistic landscapes because I want to remind people of what is possible in America.”
Stone criticized the ongoing disputes and power struggles in the political landscape, emphasizing the importance of focusing on what America can achieve. She called for term limits for the Speaker of the House and lamented the “unthinkable behavior” of today’s leaders, comparing them to the founding fathers of the nation.
Moreover, Stone discussed her journey as a woman in the entertainment industry. She proudly declared herself an embodiment of the American dream, noting that her parents, who had very little, achieved success. She became emotional as she shared her personal story.
However, she ended the conversation on a positive note, emphasizing that despite the challenges, the world has faced and will continue to survive. “The planet always survives,” she said with a smile, offering a glimmer of hope in these trying times.
Sharon Stone’s art exhibition not only showcases her talent as a painter but also serves as a platform for her to express her views on the state of the nation. As an accomplished actress and now a respected artist, she continues to captivate audiences, not only through her art but also through her thoughtful insights on the world around us.
