The Abu Dhabi Music & Arts Foundation (ADMAF), through its signature Abu Dhabi Festival, is supporting the largest spiritual chanting event in the world by Sheikh Mahmoud El Tohamy, Head of the Syndicate of Egyptian Chanters, in keeping with its strategy to promote intercultural understanding and preserve Arab heritage through music. The “inshad” event, which will take place on Friday, September 23, at the base of the Great Pyramids, will feature music from Tohamy’s stunning new album “Aneen,” which furthers his goal of reviving Classical Arabic.

She is excellent Huda Alkhamis-Kanoo, the founder of the Abu Dhabi Music & Arts Foundation and the artistic director of the Abu Dhabi Festival, emphasised the foundation’s important role in preserving Arab musical heritage by supporting young artists and fostering cross-cultural partnerships with festivals and organisations that focus on music around the world.

Sheikh Tohamy uses classical Arabic music as well as contemporary musical genres from the Arab world and beyond to evoke strong emotions and demonstrate how music can cross cultural barriers in this unique concert of the spiritual art known as “inshad.”

The renowned singer combines the social, cultural, and musical facets of spiritual chanting that combine eastern and western platforms, including mawwl, folk singing, tawashih, symphonic, classical, orchestra, rock, pop, and jazz, among others. The performance is broadcast live on Egypt’s Alhayat TV.

Sheikh Tohamy seeks to preserve Arab identity and culture through musical expression while presenting a fresh musical experience for music enthusiasts. In addition, he wants to fight violence and extremism while advancing the virtues of harmony and moderation. His work educates young Arabs about many cultures and promotes understanding.

The Ministry of Youth & Sports of Egypt, the Bait El-Inshad Foundation, the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities, AMAR Development, and Tohamy Production are all involved in the concert’s production. Numerous ministers, high-ranking government officials, chanters, artists, media personalities, and eminent thinkers and cultural authorities will also attend the event.

The Abu Dhabi Music & Arts Foundation is dedicated to promoting Abu Dhabi’s cultural advancement and supporting the arts and culture there. ADMAF has developed a number of initiatives, including Abu Dhabi Festival, an annual centrepiece cultural event, as well as numerous youth and social programmes and platforms. In collaboration with important local and international cultural institutions, the Foundation also promotes creative talent in the UAE and abroad.
