Newport Street Gallery is set to host Triple Trouble, a major exhibition bringing together Shepard Fairey, Damien Hirst, and Invader. Opening on 10 October and running until 29 March 2026, the show is presented in partnership with HENI and curated by Connor Hirst.
A Fusion of Signature Styles
Spanning all six gallery spaces, the exhibition features both individual works and first-time collaborations. Visitors will encounter a dynamic mix of painting, sculpture, installations, and mosaics that blend fine art with street culture. Fairey’s OBEY graphics, Hirst’s spot paintings and cabinets, and Invader’s pixelated mosaics are reimagined and combined in inventive ways.
Highlights include Spin Paintings and spot works overlaid with Fairey’s graphics and Invader’s digital motifs. Large Rubik’s Cube mosaics feature figures from science, music, and counterculture alongside pill cabinets, tanks, and lightboxes infused with street art elements. A new collaborative mural will also transform the gallery, merging the distinctive styles of all three artists.
Collaboration and Creative Risk
Fairey shared his thoughts on Instagram, stating: “I’ve long respected both artists because they are intelligent, conceptual, and relentless in their singular creative visions. ‘Obsessive’ might be too mild a description to convey their drive, focus, and prodigious output. I can relate to them. I also admire risk-takers and troublemakers who can withstand condescending, impolite jabs from supposedly polite society. Those qualities inspired me to collaborate with them even though our aesthetics have no natural overlap or compatibility. A clash of styles in collaboration is a risk worth taking, and creativity can solve almost all problems.”
Triple Trouble celebrates the individuality and legacy of these influential artists while highlighting the power of collaboration and experimentation in contemporary art.
