Sharjah will host the second edition of the Sharjah Literature Festival from January 5 to 11, 2026, delivering a week-long programme that blends literature, art, music, and community engagement. Held at University City Hall Square under the theme “A Community Woven by Tales,” the event reinforces the emirate’s strategy to position culture as a driver of social cohesion and creative growth. As a result, the festival places Emirati storytelling at the center of a broader knowledge economy.

Programme and Participation

The festival brings together Emirati writers, poets, artists, media professionals, musicians, chefs, and creatives across multiple disciplines. Moreover, the programme spans cultural discussions, poetry evenings, musical performances, theatre presentations, and interactive storytelling sessions for children. Through this structure, the festival encourages dialogue across generations while expanding access to creative expression. At the same time, the focus on local voices strengthens national cultural capital and visibility.

Publishing, Markets, and Skills Development

Alongside performances, a dedicated book fair will feature 42 Emirati publishing houses, presenting titles for readers of all ages. In addition, creative markets will showcase locally developed products inspired by Emirati heritage. Visitors can also attend workshops covering visual arts, artificial intelligence-driven creativity, calligraphy, content creation, photography, and culinary arts. Consequently, the festival operates not only as a cultural showcase but also as a platform for skills development and creative entrepreneurship.
