SODIC has officially opened Nobu New Cairo at Eastown District New Cairo (EDNC), introducing the internationally recognized hospitality and dining brand to Egypt’s capital for the first time. The launch represents a major milestone in the partnership between Nobu and SODIC while reinforcing Egypt’s growing role in the global luxury hospitality and design landscape.
Chef Nobu Matsuhisa traveled to Cairo to celebrate the opening, hosting an exclusive preview attended by figures from Egypt’s hospitality, business, cultural and lifestyle sectors. Consequently, the event marked the public introduction of a restaurant that combines culinary excellence with architecture, interior design and cultural storytelling.
Throughout the evening, guests experienced the elements that have defined Nobu for more than three decades: Japanese cuisine with Peruvian influence, thoughtful design, and the spirit of kokoro – the Japanese philosophy of acting from the heart that guides every Nobu experience.
Signature dishes, including Black Cod Miso, Yellowtail Jalapeño, and Nobu’s acclaimed sushi selection, were presented within interiors designed to reflect the brand’s global identity while responding to Cairo’s character.
Chef Nobu Matsuhisa commented, “It has been wonderful to spend time in Egypt and experience the warmth, culture, and energy that make this country so special. Seeing the vision we have built alongside SODIC continue to take shape is incredibly exciting. Every Nobu destination is inspired by its surroundings and community, and we are proud to be growing our presence in Egypt through experiences that bring people together.”
Nobu Residences at OGAMI Expand the Brand’s Lifestyle Vision
The Cairo opening follows another significant milestone for the partnership. Earlier in the week, Robert De Niro joined Nobu and SODIC executives in London to unveil Nobu Residences at OGAMI, introducing the residential component of the North Coast development.
Together, the two announcements highlight Egypt’s expanding importance within Nobu’s international growth strategy. Moreover, they demonstrate the brand’s continued evolution from a restaurant concept into an integrated lifestyle platform spanning hospitality, architecture, wellness and residential design.

During his visit, Chef Nobu also toured the OGAMI development on Egypt’s North Coast. The destination will eventually include a Nobu restaurant, a Nobu hotel and branded residences, creating a fully integrated hospitality environment along the Mediterranean coastline.
Ayman Amer, General Manager of SODIC, said: “The opening of Nobu New Cairo represents an important milestone in our long-term partnership with Nobu and reflects our shared ambition to bring world-class hospitality experiences to Egypt. Together, we are creating destinations that seamlessly integrate hospitality, design, wellness, and residential living, setting a new benchmark for lifestyle-led development across the country.”
Design, Hospitality and Cultural Identity Shape Nobu’s Egypt Expansion
The launch of Nobu New Cairo reflects the increasing role of design-led hospitality in shaping contemporary urban destinations. Accordingly, the project combines architecture, interiors, gastronomy and cultural identity to create an immersive guest experience aligned with Nobu’s internationally recognized aesthetic.

As the North Coast summer season approaches, Nobu North Coast at OGAMI will welcome guests for its second season in July. Meanwhile, Nobu New Cairo will officially open for reservations beginning July 16, further expanding the brand’s presence across Egypt.
