Studio Nicholson has launched its Fall/Winter 2025 campaign, reinterpreting vintage military uniforms with refined tailoring and elevated fabrics. The collection, captured by Luna Conte at Kettle’s Yard in Cambridge, merges historic references with contemporary restraint. Kettle’s Yard, once home to Tate curator H.S. Jim Ede, provides a fitting backdrop—its blend of art and domestic warmth mirrors the season’s thoughtful design.
According to Nick Wakeman, Studio Nicholson’s Founder and Creative Director, “I would say the idea of military uniform was front and center.” She continued, “It was the first season in a while where we studied vintage militaria and considered how we could reinvigorate them, make them less literal and more modern.”
Structured Silhouettes Meet Tactile Softness
FW25 brings a versatile mix of silhouettes and textures. The utilitarian khaki Caro pants reflect classic military function, while knitwear like the Scottish merino Sark sweater and Inverness V-neck offers a softer contrast. The Dani Jacket and Revere trench coat, both featuring leather collars, elevate outerwear staples with subtle luxury.
Notably, the Marylebone Jean anchors the denim offering. With an ultra-high-rise and voluminous shape, it’s presented in both rinsed indigo and raw black Japanese denim. The collection also spotlights materials such as noisy cotton, wrinkled Japanese denim, and linen viscose—each selected for its textured finish and movement.
A Precise and Thoughtful Approach
By infusing historic uniform elements with modern ease, Studio Nicholson offers a FW25 wardrobe built for function and flair. Wakeman’s material choices underscore her commitment to tactility and precision.
