TAG Heuer has unveiled three new Monaco timepieces just in time for motorsport’s biggest weekend: the Monaco Grand Prix and the Indianapolis 500. These limited-edition chronographs pay tribute to the brand’s long-standing relationship with racing, combining historic design cues with modern materials and movements.
The releases include:
- Monaco Chronograph Stopwatch
- Monaco Chronograph x Gulf
- Monaco Split-Seconds Chronograph 2025
Each model reflects a different chapter of TAG Heuer’s racing heritage, underscoring its status as the first-ever title partner of the Formula 1 Grand Prix de Monaco.
Monaco Chronograph Stopwatch: Retro Precision Reborn
Inspired by Heuer’s legendary stopwatches from the 1960s and ’70s, this limited-edition model is housed in a 39mm titanium case with a sleek black DLC coating. The dial showcases monochromatic subdials and crisp markers, evoking the raw precision of track-timing tools used in high-stakes motorsport.
Powered by the Calibre 11, it maintains strong mechanical ties to the original Monaco launched in 1969. A black perforated calfskin strap echoes classic racing gloves, reinforcing its motorsport DNA. With only 970 pieces produced, the model is priced at 9,600 CHF (approx. $11,614 USD), with the production number nodding to a pivotal decade in TAG Heuer’s racing journey.
Monaco Chronograph x Gulf: Racing Icon Meets Hollywood Legacy
This Gulf-themed edition honours one of the most recognisable liveries in motorsport history. Its light blue and orange palette recalls the colours of Steve McQueen’s racing suit in the 1971 film Le Mans, a defining moment for the Monaco watch’s pop-culture fame.
Limited to 971 pieces, the edition celebrates the film’s release year. The white strap, crafted by Indiana-based Hinchman, uses the same fabric worn by McQueen on screen, adding an authentic layer to the design. This commemorative model retails at 9,300 CHF (approx. $11,251 USD), offering collectors both historic and cinematic value.
Monaco Split-Seconds Chronograph: Engineering in Motion
The most technically advanced of the trio, the Monaco Split-Seconds Chronograph 2025 features a 41mm case made from TH-Titanium, TAG Heuer’s newly developed material. With a unique natural pattern that shifts in light, the case offers both durability and visual depth.
The sapphire bezel and transparent dial allow full visibility into the chronograph’s architecture. Contrasting black opaline counters and a lime-green rattrapante hand add both function and flair. This lime hue also appears on the titanium pusher and subdial hands, tying together the motorsport-inspired palette.
Turn the watch over and you’ll find a sapphire caseback revealing the Calibre TH81-00, a hand-finished movement with immaculate symmetry. Paired with a stitched black calfskin strap, the timepiece is priced at 145,000 CHF (approx. $175,417 USD) and individually numbered for exclusivity.
Celebrating Speed, Style, and Legacy
Each Monaco model connects TAG Heuer’s racing roots with its forward-thinking watchmaking ethos. Whether it’s through historical nods, Gulf’s enduring legacy, or next-generation materials, these releases continue the Monaco’s status as a symbol of motorsport and modern design.
