On Wednesday, Tashkeel, a Dubai-based arts organization that promotes the development of contemporary art and design in the UAE, unveiled its jam-packed autumn schedule.
From September to December, a variety of open workshops and seminars will give cultural fans and artists several chances to interact with the centre.
For adults and kids, Tashkeel will present more than 200 seminars and lectures that examine both conventional and digital media. The Emirati photographer and former assistant lecturer at the Faculty of Arts at Sharjah University, Jassim Al Awadhi, will be teaching form and practice to photography lovers during one of these sessions.
Additionally, Tashkeel will hold a variety of exhibitions featuring the creations of regional and local artists. These include Made in Tashkeel — Al Fahidi, which features a collection of pieces by Tashkeel members such jeweler Lia Staehlin and fine artist Chie Nakano at Tashkeel Al Fahidi, and So to Speak, which features Emirati artist Shamma Al Amri’s work at Tashkeel Nad Al Sheba.
The class of Tashkeel’s 2022 Tanween design programme will exhibit their limited-edition furniture and lighting creations at this year’s Downtown Design, which takes place from November 9 to November 12 during Dubai Design Week.
Alongside, Tashkeel is looking for designers to join the Tanween design programme in 2023. Applying designers from the UAE will give them access to Tashkeel’s studios and resources as well as a nine-month programme of workshops, site visits, and lectures.
The culmination of the programme will be the creation of furniture or lighting that draws inspiration from the UAE and makes its debut at Dubai Design Week. On October 3, the Open Call will start.
