UNESCO officially named India’s Jammu and Kashmir as one of the world’s most inventive cities. Silk carpet weaving, paper mache, wood carving, pashmina and sozni are just a few of the valley’s many arts and crafts.
The art center has been named as- The ‘Artisane, Art and Cultural Center’ and is located in the Kunzer neighborhood of Baramulla district. People would be able to see the process of art coming to life. The goal is to help people realize how much effort and passion goes into creating these magnificent items. The goal is to fill the gap between artists and the general public.
Visitors to the cultural center will be able to witness a live presentation of handcrafted items such as kani and pashmina shawls, silk carpets, colorful papier-mache items, minute sozni and embroidered work, and carved walnut woodwork.
The Artisane’s atmosphere was created to imitate that of an artisan’s home. They feel at ease because of the mud-plastered walls and timber ceilings, which are fashioned in a traditional architectural style.
“Artisane is a platform that connects skilled artists with purchasers. When you see art come to life, it makes you appreciate it much more. You can also see the effort and passion that goes into crafting these amazing works of art, and you can appreciate both the artist and their work, says the center’s co- founder” Mehboob Iqbal Shah.
The goal of ‘Artisane’ is to celebrate Kashmir’s arts and crafts while also helping to preserve the region’s legacy.
