For the 2022-2223 cycle, which runs from October 1 to June 30, the Bailey Contemporary Arts Centre in Pompano Beach has issued a call for artists in residence.
The BaCA studio artist programme (AiR programme) is intended to stimulate and support the creative evolution of artists whose work will have a greater cultural influence, while also bringing together visual, musical, literary, and performing artists in a dynamic collaborative environment. Participants are expected to have prior experience working alone, however multidisciplinary collaborations that result in new works are welcomed throughout the residence.
“Since the program’s establishment, BaCA has hosted many excellent artists in residence,” stated Phyllis Korab, Director of Cultural Affairs. “We are excited to welcome another set of creatives to our venue next season, giving them an inspirational and caring environment in which their skills can thrive.”
One of the most important advantages for residents is the marketing exposure provided by the programme, which includes a one-time feature as “artist of the month” with exhibit space in the 2nd floor gallery during the featured period. A kick-off event, monthly exposure during the first Friday Old Town Untapped events, and a spectacular showcase at the end of the residency are all planned. Artists will also have the opportunity to sell their work at various events, such as the Green Market Pompano Beach, which runs from November to April.
Artists in all artistic disciplines and mediums are eligible, including drawing, painting, sculpture, photography, film, video, new media, installation, fiction and nonfiction writing, poetry, dance, music, multidisciplinary, social practice, and more.
