A digital portal has been developed to exhibit Indian arts and culture festivals to culture-seekers all over the world, across genres, art forms, places, and languages. Festivals From India, curated by the British Council in collaboration with ArtBramha, will provide reading resources such as industry research, news, and opportunities to professionals such as artists, art managers, curators, and students interested in working in the festival sector.
Festivals From India will host events in a variety of genres, including arts and crafts, design, dance, film, folk arts, food and culinary arts, heritage, literature, interdisciplinary and multi-arts, music, new media, photography, theater, and visual arts, among others, in a variety of locations and languages.
Jonathan Kennedy, British Council director (Arts India) says, “With ArtBramha in India and the Audience Agency in the UK, we’ve made it possible for the Festivals from India platform to develop new audiences and showcase the huge variety of arts and culture festivals here develop the business skills of festival managers with the UK and Indian experts and grow international partnerships and networks with the UK and beyond.”
Festivals From India seeks to offer a window into India’s vibrant cultural festival realm, according to Rashmi Dhanwani, the partner at ArtBrahma. Festivals From India will focus on festivals that represent India’s modern variety by welcoming and celebrating gender equality, inclusivity, and skill development in order to ensure the industry’s long-term viability. It will curate the resources, information, and opportunities needed for artists and arts managers to feel empowered to build a career in the festival industry.
