The results of the “Creative Innovation Challenge” competition were revealed by Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture), which organized the North Star Dubai event that ran alongside the most prominent technology expo, GITEX Global 2022. At the stand of Dubai Culture in North Star Dubai, the competition presented its creative solutions for the preservation, dissemination, and celebration of the UAE’s cultural heritage using the most recent technological advancements. It was successful in drawing 50 projects from creative entrepreneurs at the local, regional, and international levels.
As part of the celebration, Dubai Culture held a ceremony to present prizes to the winners. POPMII from France took first place and was given a cash prize of $5,000. LISAN AI came in second and was given a cash prize of $3,000 by Dubai Culture. Third-place winner CARROTPHANT INC won $1,000. Following presentations by their individual owners to a jury of specialists in the fields of heritage, virtual reality applications, artificial intelligence, and Web 3.0, the three winning ideas were chosen.
“A quality addition to Dubai’s creative economy. Today, at this international event, we celebrate creative entrepreneurs who have successfully presented innovative projects and ideas that would constitute a qualitative addition to the creative economy in Dubai, which has always been and continues to be one of the best environments. The Creative Innovation Challenge is completely in line with our strategic objectives to strengthen Dubai’s cultural and creative industry and transform it into a major cultural hub, an incubator for innovation, a thriving talent hub, and the world’s capital of the creative economy,” said Hala Badri, Director General of Dubai Culture.
The winners of these innovative projects were congratulated, and Badri continued, “We affirm our commitment to providing all forms of support to creative entrepreneurs, whether citizens or residents, and to attracting creatives in various fields of arts and culture worldwide, to offer them rich benefits provided by the emirate, which would contribute to the growth and prosperity of their projects and ideas.”
The first iteration of the “Creative Innovation Challenge” was a global initiative that was successful in drawing local, regional, and international start-ups working in the cultural and creative industries to create original ways to retrieve, re-imagine, and develop ideas for cultural heritage preservation. In order to successfully communicate tales and ideas and promote the sharing of experiences and information, it is planned to encourage the use of contemporary digital technology to access an interactive experience.
In addition to receiving complimentary credentials to the event itself, including GITEX Global, and access to the conference and exhibition areas, the challenge gave the top 10 start-ups the chance to take part in the investor program. They also obtained invitations to the conference for creative international start-ups, which would aid them in developing a prestigious business network.
