Through its 2022 fall programme, “A Season for Regrounding,” Warehouse 421 broadens possibilities for inspiring a “mindful study of creative and collaborative ways” to constructing a long-lasting artistic dialogue about climate action.

The “home-grown” design and arts centre of Abu Dhabi, Warehouse421, was founded in 2015 with the goal of promoting and fostering artistic output in the area. The centre is dedicated to fostering young talent from South Asia, the Middle East, and the United Arab Emirates.

According to a Warehouse421 statement, the centre offers a “place where creative practitioners can flourish as curators, artists, designers, authors, musicians, or performers across disciplines.”

The programme, which runs through December 25, includes a public programme focused on local food security and ecologies, as well as two exhibitions: the second iteration of “On Foraging: Food Knowledge and Environmental Imaginaries in the UAE’s Landscape” and “Mohamed Khalid: Let me tell you something.”

Faisal Al Hassan, the head of Warehouse421, noted in an interview that “all Warehouse421 programmes are updatable, meaning that modifying and evolving the format is always an option.”

Hassan emphasized that contemporary art uses a variety of materials, including discovered things, recycling, and “upcycling,” thinking beyond the conventional patterns of painting, which are typically represented by a paintbrush and a palette.

Al Hassan commented on simplicity in art by stating that Warehouse421 aims to simplify difficult ideas so that viewers may connect with them, whether via agreement or disagreement.

In his first official solo exhibition, Mohamed Khalid, according to the centre, “examines the materiality of everyday things and coaxes out their metaphoric possibilities.”

According to a Warehouse421 statement, Khalid’s display is the outcome of the center’s artistic development exhibition programme. The programme is a capacity-building effort that supports the creative and professional growth of creative practitioners in their early to mid-career. As per to the organizers, the very unconventional portrayal of everyday situations is a standout aspect of the solo exhibition.

Over 35 speeches, workshops, symposia, and other events will be featured in the fall 2022 schedule with the goal of illuminating different methods to coexist with the natural ecosystem.
