The official opening of the Museum of the Future, nicknamed the “most beautiful building on earth,” was marked by dazzling light projections. The iconic landmark was inaugurated by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Dubai, alongside Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, and Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai.
The torus-shaped seven-story pillarless masterpiece, which stands at 77 meters tall and covers 30,000 square meters, heralded a moment that had been nine years in the making. Guests were taken through the story of Dubai Ruler as he guided the emirate from humble beginnings to key milestones in parallel to the stunning show that saw the famous landmark majestically transform into a work of art on Sheikh Zayed Road.
The unwritten future into which humanity as a whole can look was symbolized by the hollow space in the midst of the calligraphy-wrapped edifice that attracted spectators. The Museum of the Future is the newest addition to Dubai’s daring architectural endeavors, and it heralds the UAE’s voyage into the future.
Beyond presenting the world with a complicated engineering marvel, the museum’s interior promises to immerse visitors in the future through an extraordinary technology-enabled adventure. Visitors to Dubai’s “first completely immersive museum” will travel to the year 2071 to learn about the future of various industries. In a multi-sensory experience powered by the newest virtual and augmented reality technologies, big data analysis, human-machine interactions, and artificial intelligence, they will explore outer space, wander in a cosmic experience, and reconnect with their mind, body, and spirit.
In a proactive strategy that encourages individuals to participate in creating their own future, the museum will invite visitors to explore technology and trends that will affect humanity’s future.
The 30,000-square-meter landmark will serve as a testbed for emerging technologies and a platform for the world’s leading scientists, thinkers, innovators, and inventors to come together and develop out-of-the-box solutions to tomorrow’s greatest challenges, in addition to hosting talks and discussions. In some ways, the Museum of the Future’s launch heralds the start of a new era of scientific discovery in the region and beyond.
