Like its neighboring emirates, Sharjah has planned a jam-packed weekend of events to honor National Day, including musical performances and cultural events.
The festivities, which began last Thursday, are dispersed throughout the emirate and include a series of events in various locations. The line-up emphasizes the identity, history, culture, and folklore of the UAE.
All Sharjah Museums buildings, including the Hisn Khor Fakkan, Sharjah Fort, and Sharjah Maritime Museum, are free to enter on National Day.
The focus of Friday’s programs at the museums is strengthening national identity. Visitors can take part in cultural performances as well as various events that feature traditional food, games, and henna tattoos. Cultural competitions will also be organized in various locations.
On Tuesday, Sharjah will host a full day of activities, beginning at the municipal offices in the morning with music from the police and military bands and an art display on the union of the Emirates. Residents of Al Madam can also participate in the signing of the charter of allegiance, which represents their commitment to the UAE.
Various events will be held in Al Dhaid from Tuesday through Friday, beginning with a march toward the Al Dhaid Fort. The following days will include competitions, prizes, folk displays, patriotic chants and songs, traditional dance performances, and art workshops. A kid’s painting studio and a special ceremony honoring the attendees, volunteers, and sponsors of the events will cap up the festivities on Friday.
Thursday’s National Day events will occur at the Heritage Village beside Hamriyah Creek. “The stories of the fathers and the dreams of the children of Al Hamriyah” will be featured at the event.
