Katy Lipscomb, born in Dallas, Texas, is an author, illustrator, and designer whose work has been featured across the world. Acting as the head of her own design firm, Katy has accomplished work for clients both large and small with projects ranging from Children’s Books to Augmented Reality. Katy Lipscomb LLC works to bring the joy of Katy’s paintings into as many lives as possible, hoping to spread her contagious curiosity and continuous passion.

From the first moments of her life, Katy has been always been obsessed with the natural world. “Whether finding color in the most unexpected places or finding magic in the smallest of moments, the world blooms around me, driving my perpetual desire to create,” says Katy. Starting with an unfiltered and accelerated sketch, Katy builds her compositions layer by layer into lush landscapes of flora and fauna. Usually, her work radiates around a central focal point allowing a narrative to unfold from one point to the next, often tangling itself with counter-opposing forces.

Inks and watercolor are often thought of as untamed media but Katy captures this unpredictable nature, turning turbulence into swirling textures and volatility into vibrancy. The organized chaos is defined by quick strokes and informed linings, building and reducing this environment into final crescendos of tone and energy.

Katy has mastered her craft, having refined her processes over years of daily study, practice, failures, and, overwhelmingly, successes. Her portfolio is an unhindered joy to experience and, luckily for her audience, it is an oeuvre that continues to build and evolve with every new piece.  Being one of the most prolific and passionate creators around, Katy shares her work across the globe, allowing the creatures she creates to leap, soar, and shuffle their way into every platform they can.
