The North Face Purple Label, Japan-exclusive and powered by nanamica, has unveiled its SS26 collection under the theme “Mountain Ivy.” The lineup merges outdoor functionality with Ivy League-inspired aesthetics, reflecting the brand’s ethos of “outdoor wear that functions in the city.” Consequently, the collection balances technical performance with casual, urban appeal.
Collection Structure and Design
The SS26 range is divided into three categories: “ASPHALT & GREEN RECORD,” “TRIP IN THE WIND,” and “PURPLE BASE,” the latter drawing from the brand’s signature asphalt gray accented with vivid summer tones like blue and red. Drawing on 1990s influences from archived designs, the collection features baggy fits, oversized utility pockets, and grunge-inspired elements. Moreover, garment dyeing and uneven dyeing techniques create organic textures and expressive finishes. Standout details include a smokey blue-gray jacket and pants set, as well as a patchwork ensemble combining a beige logo top with color-blocked trousers. Accessories and bags also emphasize natural materials, minimizing reliance on petroleum-based components.
Materiality and Functionality
Attention to detail extends throughout the collection, ensuring adaptability to various environmental conditions and climates. The designs exemplify the label’s commitment to merging aesthetic refinement with functional utility. At present, no official release date has been announced for the SS26 collection.
